October Word Count
Word counts for the rest of the year might be slightly off, due to...some adjustments. I decided to cancel my subscription with Pacemaker, assuming I'd still have access til the end of my original sub. As it turns out, I was wrong. Guess I got spoiled from other companies, where it's the norm to honor remaining sub time.
Just something to look out for, should you find yourself in a similar situation.
Without my sub, which allowed me to track my word count for a year, compared to the standard month, I basically lost access and wasn't able to update new counts. I have since switched to an Excel sheet, made by WorkingWriterInk. I plan on sticking with sheets in the future, like I used to. They're a real money and time saver.
Most of my progress for October were in edits and revisions for Voracity–roughly 35k. I had 5k in unrelated writing.
Current word count for this year: 297,846 out of 400,000. Just 102,154 to go!
I'm participating in Writing Month this year, a much welcome alternative to NaNoWriMo, which has had a rash of controversies over the past few years (such as their handling of sexual predators on their mod team and most recently, their stance on AI). I ditched NaNo a few years before all this came to light, so it wasn't hard at all for me to make the switch to other sites (like 4TheWords) and spreadsheets.
Writing Month will help me knock out these edits and some light drafting for Last Train Home. I'll update more near the middle of the month, and if you want a starting buddy, you can add me:
