CH 113 — Good Company
The sleeping arrangements were as curious as their hosts. Meike could best describe it as a military barracks, but cozier. Anniken might refer to it as a hostel. But what Meike saw resembled a child's wildest dream: a jungle gym with floating, fuzzy beds.
For a bit extra, they were able to get a private room, but it was still communal. Rooms for solitary guests just weren’t available.
Two bunk beds rested against opposing walls, and came equipped with privacy nets that doubled as ladders. The bedding itself was soft and lined with wool and cotton, resembling more of a nest or burrow than a proper bed.
Meike had trouble getting into their bed, but they were determined to make themself home in the top bunk. Once inside, they welcomed the plush interior. It instantly inoculated them from the wind leaking through the shuttered window. They could even forgive the bedding and hay lining the floor.
“Let’s get a little fire lit,” Cass said, kneeling before the small fireplace. She had it roaring within minutes, transforming the drafty room into something presentable. Meike just knew they were going to sleep well tonight!
